Fabulous Pattern Friday: Myrten Mittens and Hat

21st October 2011

If you're looking for a fabulous pattern to cast on for the weekend, we've got something gorgeous for you this week  - and it's all for a good cause.

Cult Japanese designer Hiroko Fukatsu, known for her elegant, quirky patterns, has dreamt up a stunning combo of Myrten hat and matching Myrten mittens

Myrten Hat & Mittens

Not only is the pattern (written in English) perfect for knitting up small amounts of 4 ply yarn from your stash, all proceeds go to the Japanese Tsunami and Earthquake relief effort.

What a nice lady!

Let's have a closer look...

The mittens feature corrugated rib cuffs and stranded floral colourwork.

The hat is knitted in the round and then blocked over a plate (see below) for the perfect shape.

You can buy the patterns for a paltry £1.70 for both via Ravelry.com. With all your money going to a very worthy cause and two gorgeous patterns to knit, we think that's an absolute bargain!
