West Yorkshire Spinners are promoting better mental health with their new yarn, Re:treat.
They've partnered with national mental health charity Mind to launch the yarn, which was developed with wellbeing in mind. Re:treat has a roving quality and a silky smooth finish that slides easily off the needles for a relaxing knitting experience. It comes in 11 calming tones and two uplifting marled colourways, and creates smooth, light fabrics with a luxurious texture.
Re:treat proudly bears the new British Wool logo, a guarantee that it's British to the core from sheep to showroom. The wool selected to make Re:treat comes from a cross breed of Bluefaced Leicester (famous for its soft handle) and Kerry Hill, renowned for its distinctive markings and clean white fleece. Their craftsmen have used all of their expertise to transform the Bluefaced Kerry Hill fleece into one of West Yorkshire Spinners’ most beautiful and exciting new yarns.
West Yorkshire Spinners are donating 50 pence to Mind for every kilo of Re:treat yarn sold, so your purchase will help to support this wonderful charity. Mind's mission is to provide advice and help for those with a mental health problem, and they also campaign to improve services, raise awareness, and promote understanding and research.
Mind's tips for maintaining positive wellbeing include taking time for yourself, and doing something you enjoy and find relaxing – crafting ticks all of those boxes! Knitting has postitive benefits for health and happiness, and research has also highlighted clinical benefits, such as reducing depression and anxiety, and slowing the onset of dementia.
With Re:treat, West Yorkshire Spinners are delighted to be helping crafters create a little stress-free oasis where they can enjoy making something beautiful, and support a good cause at the same time.
