The film tells the true story of Michael "Eddie" Edwards, who loses his place in the British ski team so switches to ski jumping – and competes in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada. His mum wore a special I'm Eddie's Mum jumper, and you can see in in the movie too.
Yarn Stories has teamed up with The Mission To Seafarers, a charity that cares for seafarers in need all over the world, and would like knitters to make a hat to donate to the charity – a simple gift that is a much appreciated symbol of comfort.
There's also a competition to design an original hat pattern for the “I Knit For Eddie” page, to be voted on by fans. The design with the most likes and reblogs will win an exclusive Eddie prize, and be included in a special promotion of the film. For more information, click here.
The Eddie the Eagle movie launches nationwide on 1st April – and even Hugh Jackman has joined in with the knitting!
