We're in the middle of celebrating the very first World Craft Week and to keep the fun festivities going, we've got five fab free stitch patterns for you to knit!

Cast on a multiple of 5 sts plus 3 (try 48 sts).

Row 1 (RS) *P1, k1tbl, P1, K2; repeat from * to last 3 sts, P1, k1tbl, P1.

Row 2 K1, p1tbl, K1 *P2, K1, p1tbl, K1; repeat from * to end.

Row 3 *P1, k1tbl, P1, K1, yo, K1; repeat from * to last 3 sts, P1, k1tbl, P1.

Row 4 K1, p1tbl, K1 *P3, K1, p1tbl, K1; repeat from * to end.

Row 5 *P1, k1tbl, P1, K3, pass 3rd stitch on right-hand needle over first 2 stitches; repeat from * to last 3 sts, P1, k1tbl, P1.

These 5 rows form the pattern.

Row 2 (WS) P2, *P3, p2tog tbl, yo, (K1, P1) into the double yo’s of the previous row, yo, p2tog, P3; rep from * to last 2 sts, P2.

Row 3 K2, *K2, k2tog, yo, K4, yo, ssk, K2; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

Row 4 P2, *p3tog tbl, yo, P1, yo, P4, yo, P1, yo, p3tog; rep from * to last 2 sts, P2.

Row 5 K2, *yo, ssk, K2, yo, ssk, k2tog, yo, K2, k2tog, yo; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

Row 6 P2, *P1, yo, p2tog, P6, p2tog tbl, yo, P1; rep from * to last 2 sts, P2.

Row 7 K2, *K2, yo, ssk, K4, k2tog, yo, K2; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

NOTE On row 5 the yos at the beg and end make double yos in the fabric. On row 6 the P1 at the beg and the K1 at the end are worked into the double yo’s of the previous row.

Cast on a multiple of 8 sts plus 3 (try 27 sts).

Row 1 (RS) K3, k2tog, *yo, K1, yo, ssk, K3, k2tog; rep from * to last 3 sts, K3.

Row 2 and all even rows Purl.

Row 3 K2, RT, *K3, LT, K1, RT; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

Row 5 K1, RT, K1, *K5, skip 2 sts, knit 3rd st leaving it on needle, knit 1st st, knit 2nd st, then slip all 3 off LH needle, K1; rep from * to last 5 sts, LT, K1.

Row 7 K2, yo, ssk, *K3, k2tog, yo, Kl, yo, ssk; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.

Row 9 K3, LT, *K1, RT, K3, LT; rep from * to last 6 sts, LT, K3.

Row 11 K4, *skip 2 sts, knit 3rd st leaving it on needle, knit 1st st, knit 2nd st, then slip all 3 off LH needle, K5; rep from * to last 4 sts, K4.

Row 12 Purl.

These 12 rows form the pattern.

*You'll need a hook for this one as it's a crochet stitch.

Foundation chain multiple of 8 sts plus 2. (Try 42 sts.)

Row 1 (RS) Skip 1 ch, 1 dc, * skip 3 ch, (9 tr – called Fan) in next ch, skip 3 ch, 1 dc; rep from * to end.

Row 2 Ch 3, 1 tr in first st, * ch 5, skip Fan, (1 tr, ch 1, 1 tr – called V-stitch) in dc; rep from * to end, omitting last V-st and working 2 tr instead.

Row 3 Ch 3, 4 tr in first st, * 1 dc in 5th tr of Fan in previous row but one, encasing 5 ch loop of prev row, 1 Fan in next 1 ch sp; rep from * to last Fan, 1 dc over 5 ch loop in 5th tr of Fan, 5 tr in last st.

Row 4 Ch 3 (does not count as edge st), skip 5 tr, * 1 V-st in dc, ch 5, skip Fan; rep from * to last dc, 1 V-st in dc, ch 2, skip 4 tr, sl st in t-ch.

Row 5 Ch 1 (does not count as dc), 1 dc in t-ch of prev row but one, skip 2 ch, * 1 Fan in next 1 ch sp, 1 dc over 5 ch loop in 5th tr of Fan; rep from * to end.

Repeat rows 2-5 to form pattern.
