Warm hats are always welcome items of clothing when it’s chilly, and Rico’s unisex design has a ribbed brim to make it extra snug. The cables create a lovely texture, and once you’ve mastered the cabling pattern the hat will knit up quickly. Finish with a jaunty pompom.
These hats can be donated to the Mission to Seafarers, which cares for merchant seafarers from around the world, working in 200 ports in over 15 countries with its global network of chaplains, staff and volunteers. The charity’s Flying Angel centres provide a ‘home away from home’ for seafarers who have been working for several months on container ships, and it also offers help, advice and support.
One of the Mission’s remits is to pass on warm clothing to those in need, and so it would like to receive knitted or crocheted balaclavas, scarves, gloves and hats in any colours.
