Get involved with SPANA's Big Knit for Vet Kit!

Support international animal charity, SPANA, in their mission to raise funds for sick and injured working animals by doing one of your favourite things, knitting!

2nd February 2017

There's a bit of an elephant in the room and we need to talk about it! It’s SPANA’s (very) cute new Emma the elephant pattern, designed by the lovely Val Pierce.

Emma the elephant is joining the ranks of Duncan the donkey, Oscar the ox, Hattie the horse, and Clarence the camel (who is crocheted) – all of which can be downloaded for free right here.

SPANA is asking knitters everywhere to use one (or more) of these free patterns to help raise funds for hardworking animals in need. There’s a £20 sponsorship or donation target for each animal made and you can download or order the free fundraising pack here (which contains all the sponsorship forms needed, plus a donation envelope).

This year’s campaign is proudly supported by actress and animal-lover, Pam Ferris. Pam said: “Knitting for SPANA means you can enjoy being creative while raising much-needed funds to help sick and injured working animals in developing countries throughout the world. Whether you’re an experienced knitter or a complete novice, I’d encourage everyone to pick up their needles and have a go at making one of these adorable animals.” – we definitely agree with Pam!

All of the funds raised from sponsorship and donations will help SPANA provide more free veterinary treatment to working animals in developing countries across the world.
