Get knitting with... Hobbycraft and the Women's Institute - free bag pattern

Mary Henderson designed this slip stitch purse, knitted in The Women's Institute's Premium Acrylic yarn from Hobbycraft.

24th March 2016

Whether they’re for loose coins and bank cards, make up and nail polish, or all those essential knitting notions, you can never have too many purses. This modern design knits up in a flash in acrylic yarn, and requires only basic sewing skills to attach the lining and zip. Make one today – or better still, make a few – and the pattern is free to download below.

The slip stitch on this purse gives it a gorgeous texture, and as it's worked over just four rows, the pattern is easy to memorise. We love the quirky fabric Mary chose for the lining too.

It's knitted in The Women's Institute's Premium Acrylic yarn, which comes in a choice of 18 shades gives you 240 metres from each 100g ball. Plus for every ball sold, a donation will be made to the National Federation of Women’s Institutes.
