Dog hair mitten from the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford

Knitted dog hair mittens!

Have you ever knitted with unusual fibres?

3rd January 2016

Kirstie recently visited the Pitt Rivers Museum at the University of Oxford and loved these mittens knitted from dog hair! According to the label, they were knitted by women in Siberia, and both mittens and stockings were made from dog hair for Sibiriaks as they're "splendidly warm and invaluable for Arctic travelling".

Have you ever knitted with dog hair? Or even cat hair? Over on Ravelry we found a yarn made from a blend of Samoyed sled dog hair and another from a Samoyed called Koda.
