Setting sail on 24th June 2018, this exclusive seven-night cruise will allow crafters to discover the traditional knitting isles of Shetland and the Faroes, along with visits to Orkney and the Isle of Mull.
Along with your fellow crafters, well-known expert Jane Crowfoot will accompany the cruise, and will host three workshops while onboard.
Jane will also accompany you on two woolly excursions on the Shetlands and the Faroes. And you’ll have free time onboard to join ‘knit and natter’ sessions with fellow cruisers who share your passion for knitting.
Sailing north to the delightful Scottish Islands and the remote, majestic Faroese Archipelago, this cruise promises a getaway like no other.
The wealth of scenery, wildlife and nature will be a treat for your senses, while each trip ashore will reveal fascinating traditions and cultures – as well as historic settlements and mysterious ancient sites.
The cruise commences in Newcastle on Day One. After setting sail at 4pm, you will have your welcome get-together and first dinner aboard with Jane and fellow craft cruisers.
On Day Two you will have free time ashore in Dundee, before Jane leads her first workshop aboard the ship.
Your port of call on Day Three is Lerwick, capital of the spectacularly scenic Shetland Isles – where there will be an exclusive excursion lined up just for your group.
The morning of Day Four will see your second workshop with Jane, and then you'll arrive into Klaksvik – a cultural and commercial centre of the Faroes, with a history dating back to Viking times.
Arriving overnight into Torshavn, the capital of the Faroe Isles, on Day Five you will set out on an excursion to explore the stunning scenery and learn about local knitting traditions. You will also have time to visit wool and handicraft shops.
Early on Day Six you'll arrive into Kirkwall, the capital of the Orkney Isles. It’s a hive of creative activity boasting many craft shops, and there are optional excursions to explore the islands’ 6,000-year history, encompassing Neolithic standing stones and the world-famous archaeological site of Skara Brae.
Day Seven takes you to one of the prettiest ports in all Scotland – Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. With this picture postcard backdrop, the afternoon will see your final workshop with Jane.
The voyage ends on Day Eight with arrival into Liverpool – and a final hearty breakfast, of course!
