Alan Dart’s laid-back bovine is basking in the spring sunshine in a straw hat decorated with pretty buttercups.
There’s a bit of colourwork involved in this project, and you’ll also sew a small beanbag to help Hattie sit up straight, so making this cuddly cow is sure to keep you amoosed.
Hattie’s eyes and nostrils are embroidered on using little rings of chain stitches. Mark their placement with pins before you start and count the stitches carefully to make sure they’re placed symmetrically.
When you’re done, fasten off the yarn at the top of her head – this area will be covered by the hat later on, so the yarn ends won’t be visible.
You’ll do some easy colourwork to create the markings on Hattie’s legs and body.
