Following on from the recent new shades in Batik, Stylecraft has now announced a brand new yarn in the shape of Batik Elements. Each shade is evocatively named after a particular element: Copper, Sulphur, Phosphorous, Iron, Platinum, Bismuth and Mercury.
The perfect showcase for Batik Elements is provided by nine knit and crochet patterns. Including jumpers, cardigans, shawls and a poncho, these form a collection of unstructured, easy-to-wear wardrobe essentials for ladies and girls.
Autumn is a bumper season for Stylecraft’s Life family of yarns. Life DK adds five classic shades to the palette: Parchment, Caramel, French Blue, Bark and Pillar Box Red. Accompanying patterns for ladies and girls include textured jumpers and cardigans, as well as a denim-style jacket with cables.
Life Chunky and Life Aran, meanwhile, have two new shades: Wheaten and Sea Green. These are supported by three new patterns in each yarn, including a beautiful cabled jacket (which can be made either with short sleeves or without sleeves for a stylish waitcoat) and an attractive collection of hats.
Life Super Chunky’s palette is enhanced by two new colours, Berry and Smoke. These feature in a garter stitch collection consisting of a hat, a shawl and a cowl.
Stylecraft has announced that it is now working with rising crochet design star Annelies Baes, whose work you may have already discovered on Ravelry. Hailing from the Netherlands, Annalies now lives in Belgium with her husband and two sons. A full-time designer and teacher, she finds her inspiration in nature – trees, water, flowers and plants – as well as in the essential properties of beautiful yarn itself.
The first of Annelies’ designs for Stylecraft is a Mexican Seraphi blanket crocheted in Life DK. Also coming soon are a graphic Scandinavian cushion design using Alpaca Tweed, and a colourful blanket and cushion with both motifs and sideways construction in Batik and Batik Elements.
Finally, the already extensive Special DK palette is joined by three new colours – Lapis, Lincoln and Blush. These are designed to perfectly complement the existing shades, especially for crocheters or knitters who enjoy playing with colour.
