Sunday Stitches: Bamboo

Happy New Year! To help you have a quiet recovery from last night's celebrations, we've got a fun elongated stitch for you to try out. This week, it's Bamboo.

1st January 2017

How's everyone's heads today? If they're a little sore, we've got the perfect remedy - knitting! This Bamboo stitch pattern has elongated stitches that create the bamboo-like panels. It's ideal for textured cushions, cowls and hats.

To knit the Bamboo pattern, just follow this stitch pattern to the desired length:

Cast on a multiple of 6 sts plus 2 (try 50 sts).

Row 1 (WS) K2, *P4, K2; rep from * to end.

Row 2 (RS) P2, *K4, P2; rep from * to end.

Row 3 K2, *P4, K2; rep from * to end.

Row 4 P2, *K4, P2; rep from * to end.

Row 5 K2, *(wrap yarn twice round needle to purl stitch) 4 times, K2; rep from * to end.

Row 6 P2, *K4 dropping extra loop from previous row, P2; rep from * to end of row.

Rep these 6 rows to form the pattern.
