Sunday Stitches: Gothic Arches

Grab a cuppa (and maybe a slice of cake), it's time for another Sunday Stitches! This week, it's Gothic Arches - great for adding texture.

Welcome back to Sunday Stitches! If you've missed some of our previous weekly patterns, then simply click here to find them. This time, learn how to work the Gothic Arches stitch. It's ideal for adding interest and texture to plain garments and accessories.

Cast on a multiple of 14 sts plus 1 (try 43 sts). 

Row 1 (RS) K1, *yo, K2, P2, p3tog, P3, K2, yo, K1; rep from * to end of row. 

Row 2 *P4, K7, P3; rep from * to last st, P1.

Row 3 K1, *K1, yo, K2, P2, p3tog, P2, K2, yo, K2; rep from * to end of row. 

Row 4 *P5, K5, P4; rep from * to last st, P1.

Row 5 K1, *K1, yo, K2, P1, p3tog, P1, K2, yo, K2; rep from * to end of row.

Row 6 *P6, K3, P5; rep from * to last st, P1. 

Row 7 K1, *K3, yo, K2, p3tog, K2, yo, K4; rep from * to end of row.

Row 8 *P7, K1, P6; rep from * to last st, P1. 

Row 9 K1, *K4, yo, K1, sl1, k2tog, psso, K1, yo, K5; rep from * to end of row.

Row 10 Purl. 

Row 11 K1, *K5, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, K6; rep from * to end of row.

Row 12 Purl. 

Rep these 12 rows to form the pattern.
