Horizontal Eyelet

Sunday Stitches: Horizontal Eyelet

Take a break from all that present wrapping and learn a new stitch! This week, it's Horizontal Eyelet.

18th December 2016

Open up your knitting with this sweet and simple lacy stitch pattern, ideal for lace beginners. It's great for adding an elegant lightness to any garment or accessory but if you don't want to go for an all-over lace pattern, try smaller areas to add interest.

To knit the Horizontal Eyelet pattern, just follow this stitch pattern to the desired length:

Cast on an odd number of stitches. (Try 41 sts.)

Row 1 (WS) Knit.

Row 2 Knit.

Row 3 K1, P1, *yo, p2tog; rep from * to last st, K1.

Row 4 Knit.

These 4 rows form the pattern.

As well as adding a touch of interest to garments and accessories, this stitch also makes a fab open-work shopping bag! Simply work two medium-sized rectangles, following the stitch pattern, and then sew them together along the sides and bottom – adding handles of your choice!

Have a lovely, knitting-filled Sunday!
