It’s time to get your needles out for World Wide Knit in Public Day. Taking place on Saturday 10 June, the event encourages knitters to get together for a day of crafting, to show that knitting can be a great community activity and a way to meet new people.
Since it started in 2005, WWKIP has grown from a handful of small meetups to a worldwide phenomenon, so don’t miss out on the fun this year!
Find an event near you, or sign up to host your own KIP, at www.wwkipday.com.
There's also a map of the Commit To Knit events – click here to view the map and search for events in your area. There's over 100 events listed in the United Kingdom alone, so there's plenty of people involved. Knit In Public day also coincides with Commit to Knit month, which also has over 70 events going on for the whole month of June where people can help knit or cro chet items for charity. In this month's Simply Knitting (Issue 160) we have also teamed up with UK Hand Knitting to create a special pattern booklet with 9 fab quick patterns from your favourite yarn companies, specifically chosen for the Commit to Knit campaign! They also have a handy map showing all of the events which you can view here. So go on, get out there and get stitching!
