Cut Out and Keep

Blog review: www.cutoutandkeep.net

8th October 2010

Apparently it’s true, there is more to craft than knitting, and with Christmas just around the corner it’s the perfect time to find out what else is out there. Simply Knitting editor Debora Bradley pointed out this cheery website with its fab step-by-step tutorials and reams of inspiration. On the home page it states there are more than 30,000 projects on the site!

The website is bright, chirpy and youthful, with references to current pop culture such as TV True Blood and kooky spooky Halloween projects galore.

At the top of the page there are six tabs. The first of these, Projects, is self-explanatory really but very varied with categories including Pet Accessories and Gadgets. Naturally, we love the Crafts section, which includes Knitting and Crochet, and gives you the option to upload your own projects.

The Craftopedia tab offers details to relevant crafty books, some with reviews and all with kinks through to Amazon so you can source them easily.

The Blog section is very product-driven, with a slight whisper of Advertorial about it, but it’s comprehensive and informative with a great list of sub-sections.

One of our favourite sections is Snippets, a fabulous online magazine that really should be flagged up more on the home page.
Board is the gateway to the forums, while Community gives you a glimpse of 54,000* members currently signed up to the site.

Ultra interactive, crammed with interesting posts and regularly update, this is definitely a craft site to watch!
